Since the skating season is back, I have increased the storage space. It's now more than it was last winter. Current finances allow me to do this out of my own pocket, but donations are still appreciated and can help keep this going throughout the skating season.

File locations change at 5am EST every Saturday, so be sure you're not uploading at that time. I made minor changes to the upload monitor script (popup window) Jan 19 which should make it more accurately choose the proper file to monitor. details at bottom of page for those curious Files with the following extensions are allowed: mpg mpeg mpe m1v m2v m4e m4v mpv2 mp4 asf asx avi wmv rm rmvb mov qt swf Maximum file size is 200MB Any non alpha numeric characters in the filename, other than dots, dashes, and underscores, are replaced with an underscore in the name it is saved as on the server. You will be given a number needed to access your clip once the upload or transfer is complete. large clips on dial-up connections can take hours

File locations change at 5am EST every Saturday, so be sure you're not downloading at that time. You will be given a link to the video if it is still available. Please right-click on the link and choose "save as", "save link target as", or something similar, to save the file on your computer. Upload monitor accuracy: When a file is uploaded to the server it is saved to a temporary file during the upload progress, then moved to the end location when the upload is complete. The temporary file is given a random name and there appears to be no way for another script, (the upload monitor script), to know which temporary file belongs to who. Initially, the upload monitor script just waited for 1 second to give the upload time to start, then checked for temporary upload files and hoped only 1 file was being uploaded at a time and it monitored that file. If there happened to be 2 people or 2 files uploading at the same time, the script wouldn't know for sure which one to monitor and sometimes watched the wrong one. That was why the monitor window wasn't always in sync with the actual upload. I edited the script later to find the smallest temporary file, which would be the newest one, and assume it was the one to watch. That worked much more accurately, but if an upload took more than 1 second to start and there was another upload going on, it would pick that one to monitor. I took it one step further. Now when the monitoring first starts it waits 1 second, checks for the smallest temp file, then checks its size. If that file is already larger than 100kb it's safe to assume that one didn't just get started, so it waits another second and checks again. To gain more accuracy, I need to know if the monitoring isn't working right, so if you find the monitoring appears to be picking the wrong temp file, (not in sync with your upload), please email me and let me know what size the file was, what your upload connection is, (i.e. dialup, DSL, cable, T1 etc), and what was wrong, (monitor said done too early, too late, or didn't work at all). If the script is still not always accurate, this will help me improve it. |
